Welcome to Savana Photo Gallery, my online gallery of wildlife, landscape, and architecture photography. Living in Alaska inspired me to pursue outdoor photography. Alaska is so vast and wild that it begs you to explore and photograph. Thrilled with my experiences in Alaska, I traveled to other locations to photograph wildlife and landscapes. I am located in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Savana is a word borrowed from Swahili, the language spoken widely in East Africa. All photographs taken by Barry Cliver. Website designed and built by Barry. Email me at bc@savanaphotogallery.com Please know your email will be kept private and not shared.
I would like all of us to hope anew and to revive our trust in others, including those who are different than ourselves, or who come from distant lands, bringing unfamiliar customs, ways of life and ideas! For all of us are children of God! - Pope Francis
In Focus: Coast of Cornwall
Hiking the South West Coast Path in southwestern England is a photographer's paradise. Majestic cliffs appear at every turn, but so do secluded beaches, waterfalls, and wild horses. The path is over 600 miles, so one much pick and choose. I chose the area of Tintagel on the north coast and Land's End farther south. Take appropriate attire for inclement weather. Conditions can deteriorate and I felt as if I were hiking in a hurricane, all courtesy of the Atlantic Ocean. This photograph was taken on a pleasant day near Gwennap Head.

Wildlife
I prefer environmental portraits of wildlife to show their habitat. Habitat loss contributes to the current mass extinction. Large animal wildlife of East Africa and Alaskan Bears of The Pacific. All photos taken in the wild, not in zoos or enclosures.
Land and Seascapes
Endless mountains, coastlines, and deserts at the golden hour. The mountains and deserts of North America, seascapes of England, Adriatic and Baltic, and the brilliant Pacific sunsets of Costa Rica.
Architecture
Celebrating the beauty of architecture from ancient Petra and Greece, Moroccan kasbahs and European castles. Many great structures are in disrepair, threatened by pollution, war, neglect, or overuse.
